What to expect and how to prepare
A professional pest service is about more than simply treating the pests you can see. The aim is to understand what's happening, target pest issues and help reduce the conditions that allow problems to develop or persist.
The best results come when treatment is supported by a few simple things around the property, such as good access, reducing food and harbourage, and following any after-treatment advice.
Preparing for the service
There’s usually very little you need to do before we arrive. Where practical, a few simple things can help us inspect and treat the areas that matter.
Access — Please provide reasonable access to the areas being treated and unlock gates, garages, sheds or other areas included in the service.
Kitchen & food areas — A normal tidy is generally enough. Please ensure food is put away and let us know about any particular pest activity in cupboards, pantries or other food-storage areas. There’s no need to empty cupboards unless we specifically ask you to.
Dogs — Please ensure all dogs are securely contained during the service and kept away from treated areas as directed. This applies to friendly dogs too — we need to move around and carry out the treatment safely without dogs entering the work area.
Other pets & animals — Please let us know about any other animals kept at the property, including cats, birds, fish and aquariums, reptiles, poultry and outdoor fish ponds. This allows us to take them into account when inspecting and planning your treatment.
Pest activity — Please show us where you've noticed pest activity and let us know when and how often you've been seeing it, along with any treatments or products you've already tried. Where possible, avoid spraying or cleaning away evidence of a particular pest problem immediately before we arrive.

Please Read the Advice Notice we provide
We’ll provide an Advice Notice following the service. Please take a moment to read it and follow any instructions relating to the treatments carried out at your property.Allow the treatment time to work
It’s normal to continue seeing some pest activity after treatment. Activity may fluctuate for a while as pests encounter treated areas, baits or other control measures. The full effect of some treatments can take time.Leave treatments in place
Please avoid disturbing baits, gels, dusts, traps or other treatments we’ve placed. We’ll let you know if there are any treated areas that need particular care when cleaning. If you have any concerns
If pest activity persists longer than expected, changes significantly, or something just doesn’t seem right, please contact us. We’re happy to advise whether what you’re seeing is normal or whether anything further is needed. -
Professional treatment works best when the things that encourage pest activity are also kept under control. Depending on the pest and property, we may point out simple changes that can help improve the result.
Professional treatment works best when conditions that encourage pest activity are also addressed. Where relevant, we may recommend practical changes such as reducing food or water sources, removing harbourage, trimming vegetation or addressing pest entry points.
Not every property needs these changes. We'll point out the things that are relevant to your property and likely to make a worthwhile difference.
